Laser and Optical Systems Engineering Centre Logo

Welcome to my home page and the Laser and Optical Systems Engineering Centre. Here you will find information about my research. The Laser and Optical Systems Engineering Centre was formed in 1987 and we have pursued a broad range of research activities over that period. From fabricating a 5kW, pulsed CO2 laser operating at 10kHz for laser material processing of reflective and refractory materials, to bacterial detection and systems to even extend the shelf life of carrots and potatoes. For the laser source research we modelled the entire laser process from the power supply, discharge physics, laser output and laser material processing capability down to the phonon level. My current research interests cover four fundamental themes, listed below. Thank you for visiting my home page. Please feel free to browse and contact me for further information.

On the left you will find a link to the University’s Health and Saftey pages. You will need to be familiar with these practices if you do any work within LOSEC.
