WELCOME
The University of Glasgow is delighted to be the host for the 2010 UKSB
conference, the first time the meeting will be held in Scotland. We are
using one of the lectures theatres in a converted church (the Sir
Charles Wilson Lecture Theatre) with the lunch, coffee and tea breaks
to be taken in the poster space in the basement of this building. We
have planned the meeting to start on Thursday 1st July with the
Student's Day when we aim to have presentations and posters by students
from the UK Biomaterials community throughout the UK. The day will end
with a dinner and the presentation of the Student Prizes.
On Friday 2nd July we will have the major presentations in the form of
the President's Prize and the Biocompatible's Prize winner lectures. We
will also have some invited plenary lectures. All these lectures should
allow people to see work from various leading members of the UK
Biomaterials community and allied areas. Also on 2nd July we will
follow the example of the 2009 conference at the University of Ulster
and have a Clinical Panel where we have invited various clinicians to
present clinical problems where they need biomaterials solutions.
We have chosen these dates noting that the European Society of
Biomechanics will have their 2010 Biannual Conference in Edinburgh
starting on Sunday 4th July and we have arranged that accommodation
will be available in Glasgow on Friday and Saturday night for people
who want to stay over before they go on to Edinburgh.
We all look forward to welcoming you to Glasgow and Scotland
